Johnson Viking paint colors: From my experience, there are significant variances in the EF Johnson Grey and Maroon.
The maroon varies from a dark brown/maroon to one that is nearly black. The grey varies as well, so restoring areas of the front panel by airbrushing, usually the edges of a panel to match, requires some expert paint matching. It is likely a "one size fits some" scenario; I have a Ranger I and a Valiant I, and these are factory built; the grey for these factory built examples is identical and lighter than other EFJ equipment in my stable. The grey on the Viking Thunderbolt amplifier is darker, and the maroon is nearly black.
